THE REPO RATE AS ON TODAY 6/6/19- The six-member monetary policy committee (MPC), headed by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, has decided to reduce key  - Repo rate to 5.75 per cent from 6.0 per cent with immediate effect.  The R everse repo rate has been adjusted to 5.50 per cent, and the Bank rate to 6.0 per cent. 

Highlights of Census 2011 Total population of India has reached to 121 crores. It comprises 62.31 crores males and 58.74 crores females. Total absolute increase in population during the decade is 18.19 crores. Population growth during the decade remained 17.7 percent. Density of population per sq. km. has been 382 persons. Sex ratio for females per 1000 males is 943 females. Child sex ratio for females is 919 per 1000 males. Literacy rate of India has gone up to 73.0 percent from previous figure of 64.83 percent. M.A in History, Shaktikanta Das is first non-economist in 28 years to be RBI Governor.  Shri Shaktikanta Das, IAS Retd., former Secretary, Department of Revenue and Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India assumed charge as the 25th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India effective December 12, 2018. Immediately prior to his current assignment, he was acting as Member, 15th Finance Commission and G20 Sherpa of India. The Narendra Modi government has appointed Shaktikanta Das for a tenure of five years . Shri Shaktikanta Das has vast experience in various areas of governance in the last 38 years. Shri Das has held important positions in the Central and State Governments in the areas of Finance, Taxation, Industries, Infrastructure, etc. During his long tenure in the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, he was directly associated with the preparation of as many as 8 Union Budgets. Shri Das has also served as India’s Alternate Governor in
